El Rio is a unique boutique hostel built alongside the Buritaca River between Tayrona National Park and Palomino.
This Colombian riverside oasis offers travellers a unique hostel experience in the Sierra Nevada - home to Tayrona National Park and the Lost City Trek. Rio Hostel Buritaca combines excellent facilities with personal service, underpinned by the owners’ love of socialising and travel.
Our social spaces – private river beach, sundeck, bar and garden – even our family-style dining, encourage story swapping and friendship building, and our daily tubing trips always go down a treat.
We know that backpackers also appreciate a little luxury and comfort, so we believe in paying close attention to even the most basic details to make staying at El Rio Hostel extra special. From private cabañas to dorms, we cater to every budget. We also offer free drinking water for everyone.
Working closely with local suppliers, we try to be as environmentally friendly as possible in all that we do.
Our charity arm, the El Rio Foundation, also operates out of the hostel and you can volunteer with us every day in our local community. For more information about our projects for 2022 please click here.
We speak English, Spanish & French. We look forward to welcoming you to El Rio Hostel soon! Book now.
